Features: This series includes 8 exciting stories, each with a length of 5,000-6,000 words and a vocabulary of approximately 650 words. The three main characters in every story are the boy Flynn, the girl Mia, and Flynn's uncle—Erle, the archaeologist known as the "expert of experts." Their treasure-hunting adventures either involve world-historically famous events or widelying magical mysteries. As readers follow the protagonists on thrilling journeys to track down ancient sunken Spanish treasure ships, rescue the Queen of Ancient Egypt, explore pirate treasure pits, and more, they not only gain an immersive experience but also learn how to describe deep-sea landscapes, tropical rainforests, fantastical realms, foreign customs, the triumph of good over evil, and sincere friendships in simpler English. The series fully reflects the dreams and pursuits of teenagers in English-speaking countries, using vivid and realistic plots with natural, everyday English. Each book in the series opens with a double-page illustration that provides information about the treasure-hunting destinations, including their locations on a world map, detailed maps of the countries, and simplified diagrams of the protagonists' treasure-hunting paths and discoveries. Additionally, each book is supported by multiple websites, offering further rich and interesting information. To help some readers overcome difficulties and increase their interest, each story is preceded by a Chinese "plot summary"; the "Think Before You Read" section helps spark reading interest; readers who enjoy computers can also choose online paths from the "Explore Websites Related to the Stories" to learn more interesting facts and broaden their horizons. The "Learn Spoken English by Reading Stories" at the end of each book extracts popular, vivid, and practical English sentences among teenagers; teachers or parents can guide students in reading activities around the "Reading and Thinking Questions." Key vocabulary and language points in the stories are listed as footnotes at the bottom of each page, and a detailed "Glossary" is also provided at the end. This series is suitable for students in the third year of junior high school and the first year of senior high school.
Flynn and Mia accidentally trigger a mechanism while visiting the Cairo Museum and are magically transported back in time to the reign of Queen Hatshepsut (an ancient Egyptian pharaoh of the 15th century BC). They are captured and become servants to the queen, meeting the cunning minister Senmut. Senmut has long coveted the throne. One day, while the queen is traveling, the long-planned Senmut seizes the opportunity to imprison her in a pyramid, creating a dire situation. In the queen's palace, Flynn and Mia discover a paper inscribed with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, and they decide to seek help from the magician Boutou. However, to rescue the queen, they must overcome three challenges: finding the entrance to the pyramid, passing through a fiery underground passage, and solving the riddle of the terrifying Sphinx. Can Flynn and Mia overcome the three challenges? Can they rescue the queen successfully? Can they return to the modern world safely?
