Features: Vanity Fair is a long novel written by the 18th-century British critical realist writer Sacre. This book has long been recognized in the history of British literature, and the great Marx once held a high opinion of Sacre. It is a type of picaresque novel in the literary history of Western Europe. The heroine of this book, Rebeca Sharp, can be considered a strikingly dazzling "floating fallen flower" (a wandering figure appearing in a female guise). She is talented, skilled in singing and dancing; shrewd, ambitious, and quick-witted, making other heroines pale in comparison. However, although they are all in supporting roles, each is vividly portrayed and comes to life on the page. The male protagonist, while somewhat clumsy in action, is a true British gentleman.
