Doctor's answer:
Hello! Breastfed babies generally do not need additional water. If you are practicing mixed feeding, it's important to offer your baby some water. If a baby has not had a bowel movement for more than 48 hours, it can be considered constipation. Here are some methods to address constipation:
1) Encourage more water intake. You can add a milk supplement to formula or water, using 1 packet daily.
2) Perform clockwise abdominal massage twice a day, for 5–10 minutes each time.
3) If the baby still hasn't had a bowel movement after several days, you can use infant glycerin suppositories or soap sticks. However, avoid long-term use.
4) For formula-fed babies, offer warm water between feedings. If constipation occurs, you can also slightly thin the formula.
5) Offer your baby more fruits and vegetables.
