How to care for a baby with persistent cough

Patient's question:

Medical Description: My son has been coughing for several months. It's not very serious, but it just doesn't go away. I've taken him to the hospital twice, given him medicine, and even given him injections, but it hasn't helped much. Please advise.
First Follow-up Question: Thank you. The cough is without phlegm, and the child is six months old. Also, the child only has a bowel movement once every three days. How should it be adjusted?

Doctor's answer:

Children with cough-variant asthma and typical asthma both exhibit airway allergic inflammation and airway hyperresponsiveness. The causes and mechanisms of onset are very similar, differing only in severity or stage of disease progression. The quality and quantity of environmental allergens and non-allergenic stimuli that trigger airway inflammation are not entirely consistent. Additionally, due to genetic predisposition, there is significant individual variation in the body, leading to different responses to various environmental stimuli. Because the extent of pathological changes varies among different individuals, or even the same individual at different times or in different settings, the clinical manifestations can differ. If a child develops significant airway inflammation, it can stimulate bronchial smooth muscle spasm, resulting in wheezing.
