What is the reason for the baby's red buttocks, crying when defecating, and suddenly crying when sleeping?

In the past few days, the baby has had less bowel movements, a red bottom, and cried intensely during bowel movements. During sleep, the baby suddenly cried intensely.
Past treatment and effectiveness:
No previous treatment has been administered yet.
Desired help:
How can we prevent the baby from crying?

Doctor's answer:

The baby is crying, which might be because the baby is uncomfortable. Once the baby's illness is cured, it will naturally stop crying. Your baby may have diaper rash, also known as "red bottom," which is an inflammatory skin condition. It is often caused by the baby's hot body, delicate skin, prolonged exposure to damp diapers, and excessive rinsing of the buttocks, leading to the accumulation of damp-heat, resulting in skin irritation. This condition is most common in infants. Due to the constant dampness and discomfort in the affected area, infants may cry more frequently. Generally, medication is not necessary; local treatment and enhanced care are sufficient.
Recommendations:
The baby's anal area is very thin. If there is redness and swelling around the anus, it is recommended to:
- Wash the area with water after each bowel movement, using lukewarm water or a 4% boric acid solution. Gently pat dry with soft cotton fabric—do not rub.
- Avoid using soap when washing the buttocks to reduce irritation.
- After washing, apply talcum powder or diaper cream.
If the weather or room temperature permits, you can place a diaper under the buttocks to allow the area to air out or be exposed to sunlight for 10–20 minutes, 2–3 times a day. Generally, redness should improve significantly within 1–2 days.
It is important to change diapers or pull-ups frequently.
