Features: This calligraphy workbook provides readers with scientific methods for practicing writing, enabling learners to achieve twice the result with half the effort. It helps readers master the skills of writing clear and fast calligraphy in a relatively short time, laying a solid foundation for study and work. This workbook includes four sub-books: "Kai Script Three Hundred Tang Poems," "Running Script Three Hundred Tang Poems," "Kai Script Three Hundred Song Lyrics," and "Running Script Three Hundred Song Lyrics."
Copying, tracing, and imitating are three scientifically proven methods for practicing calligraphy practiced and confirmed by countless calligraphers over the centuries. They are the key to opening the door to calligraphy for beginners and a highly effective path to rapid results.
Copying: Place a transparent, ink-absorbent paper over the workbook and write along the stroke order of the model characters (this workbook includes copy paper on each page for tracing). Its main effect is to help beginners become familiar with the structure, form, and stroke variations of Chinese characters through accurate tracing.
Tracing: Use a hard pen to write directly over the red characters. Its characteristics are closer to the original, more intuitive, and easier to write, allowing beginners to quickly break free from their previous non-standard writing habits and enter standardized writing.
Imitating: Place the workbook in front of you and write while looking at it, making it easier to observe the structure, strokes, and brushwork of each character in the original. You can contemplate the lightness and darkness, speed and slowness, and layout, understanding and imitating them.
The New Concept Calligraphy Workbook for Rapid Improvement is designed based on the above three fundamental methods of practicing calligraphy—copying, tracing, and imitating. It serves multiple functions as a calligraphy model book, practice workbook, and technique guide. At the top of each page in the sub-books, there are printed sections titled "Learning Guide" and "Stroke Techniques." These are the fruits of the author's decade-long experience as a judge and teacher in national calligraphy competitions. Before writing, readers can read these sections as if receiving guidance from a master teacher.
