Patient's question:
My baby was born with jaundice and was hospitalized (on the 7th day) for blue light treatment. During this time, we noticed a platelet count decrease (80), and after receiving intravenous immunoglobulin, it recovered completely to 130. At the 42-day check-up, it dropped again to 55. What should the doctor do? Thank you very much.Doctor's answer:
Physiological jaundice reappears 2 to 3 days after birth, peaks between 4 to 6 days, and disappears between 7 to 10 days. Premature infants have a longer duration. Except for mild loss of appetite, there are no other clinical diagnostic symptoms. Physiological jaundice can be treated with Yinzhi Huang Granules for jaundice under the condition that there is no "G6PD deficiency." If jaundice reappears within 24 hours after birth and does not subside within 2 to 3 weeks, or if it repeatedly reappears after initially fading or if it starts to reappear within one week to several weeks after birth, it is considered pathological jaundice.
