Features: This book is based on the review of over a thousand classical Chinese medical texts, from which eight hundred and fourteen articles were selected from more than two hundred medical works. Some of these articles propose unique insights in the theory of traditional Chinese medicine; others hold significant guiding significance for clinical practice in traditional Chinese medicine; and some are main reference materials for traditional Chinese medicine research and teaching. They include the medical theories and different viewpoints of major schools of traditional Chinese medicine in various dynasties. The book is divided into eight chapters and twenty-eight sections according to the content of the selected articles, covering such aspects as Zang-Fu organs, meridians, Qi, blood, body fluids, etiology, four diagnostic methods and eight guiding principles, treatment, formulas and medicinal substances, and syndrome differentiation in various specialties. Annotations are provided for quoted texts, formulas, and difficult words or phrases in the original text. The appended remarks are comments by the compilers on the main arguments of some articles, as well as brief introductions to the authors of the original works.
