Patient's question:
The child sweats excessively every night after falling asleep, as if taking a shower with water, requiring several changes of clothes. Even two or three hours after falling asleep, the sweating continues. During the day, sweating occurs with any movement, and it's cold sweat. Otherwise, everything is fine, and the child's spirits are good. Please have the doctor diagnose the condition. Thank you!Doctor's answer:
It is normal for children to sweat, as their sweat glands are more developed. Sweat secretion is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (vagus nerve). After falling asleep, the excitement of the vagus nerve leads to increased sweating, usually concentrated on the head and face, but it typically subsides within one or two hours. If sweating persists after sleep and is quite heavy, it could be a sign of a functional disorder of the autonomic nervous system, with some cases possibly being caused by calcium deficiency. Additionally, children who are active and have high activity levels tend to sweat more easily.
