Features: This book was originally a three-volume set, namely Japanese I, II, and III, designed for foreign students at the Japanese School of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies who were beginners in Japanese. Using this textbook for teaching enables students to acquire the ability to engage in various learning activities in Japanese at Japanese universities. Our country's preparatory schools for Japanese-studying abroad in Japan also adopt this textbook, and years of teaching practice have further proven that the effect of using this textbook is good. Chinese students who study this textbook for half a year can basically understand the courses on mathematics, physics, and chemistry taught by Japanese teachers; after eleven months of study, they can understand Japanese teachers' lectures upon entering Japanese universities. Currently, this textbook is very popular among Japanese-studying students in many countries and Japanese enthusiasts in our country. To meet the needs of a broad readership of Japanese learners, we have made some adaptations to this textbook and added some content. This textbook is an excellent learning material for self-study in Japanese and can also serve as a basic textbook for Japanese majors in colleges and universities, as well as a reference book for Japanese teachers. Regarding the adaptations to Japanese II, we have paid attention to the following points:
1. For convenience in learning, words are not arranged by part of speech but in the order they appear in the text, with pitch accent marks, part of speech, and meanings indicated. Common Kanji are focused on pronunciation for adult Chinese readers, so they are placed in the vocabulary list of each lesson rather than in a separate section.
2. Given that Japanese II emphasizes basic sentence patterns, and considering the characteristics of adult Japanese learners, additional grammar points have been added. This includes basic sentence patterns and grammar explanations. There are 192 basic sentence patterns, each explained in conjunction with the corresponding lesson and accompanied by a sufficient number of example sentences. The content of grammar explanations is determined based on the needs of the text and exercises and is not systematically taught.
3. The content of the original text has not been altered. However, each lesson is accompanied by a reference translation written in a direct translation style to facilitate self-study. Appropriately added footnotes explain particularly difficult language phenomena.
4. The format of the original exercises remains largely unchanged, with reference answers provided for each lesson to facilitate self-assessment and correction for learners.
5. The original structure of each lesson consists of three parts: text, exercises, and vocabulary. The adapted structure is as follows: text, vocabulary, grammar, exercises, reference translation of the text, and answers to exercises. The reference translation and answers can be flexibly used based on individual needs to achieve practical results. A comprehensive vocabulary list is provided at the end of the book for easy reference.
