Features: "As the 1960s progressed, the US failure in the Vietnam War left people feeling helpless, and the high quality of American life was impacted. Peanuts became a sanctuary. In the hearts of those enduring suffering, Schulz became a saint. Reading the comic strip, people learned to forget and also gained profound insights. It proved that when you wake up in the middle of the night, reflecting on your failures, staring into the darkness, and worrying that the world has gone mad, you are not alone." – David Michaelis (Schulz's biographer) "50 years. He (Schulz) reminded people of all ages how to live in disappointment. Even mocking disappointment itself." – USA Today website
I don’t think I’m a true artist. I also wish I could be Andrew Wyeth or Picasso, but I can draw great comics and write wonderful words. I feel I’ve fulfilled my talent. What more could I possibly expect? – Charles M. Schulz
Charlie Brown’s baseball career, full of failures, had a glimmer of hope. Thanks to Peppermint Patty’s introduction, Joe Cool, known as the "baseball machine," was placed in second base, replacing Linus; Peppermint Patty took over as pitcher, replacing Charlie Brown. The team’s long history of inescapable defeats was finally overturned. As they cheered for success, Charlie Brown and Linus realized that the outcome was actually irrelevant—they had already been replaced and were now just spectators. Worse, Joe Cool and Peppermint Patty quickly lost interest in the team and left to form their own, leaving Charlie Brown with no chance to even play with skilled partners.
Although Snoopy has always held critical views of his human companions, it doesn’t mean he has any fondness for animals either. His aversion and hatred for cats are well-known. However, the arrival of a few clumsy birds revealed the warmth of the little dog’s world. The mysterious birds flew in and out, chirping happily, disrupting the tranquility of Snoopy’s territory and interrupting his contemplation. They strutted in and out of the doghouse, perched on Snoopy’s body, and played games of farewell, travel, longing, and teaching, forming a loyal friendship with him. The joy of these messy little creatures’ visit wasn’t just Snoopy’s—it was also Linus’s, who even considered listening to the birds’ cheerful chirping as a mission.
