Can baby diaper rash be treated with Eronain H ointment?

Patient's question:

My baby is a premature child, and I have been very concerned about his condition from the beginning. Recently, the child has been experiencing a series of issues, and I am very worried that it might worsen. May I ask if Erythromycin ointment can be used for diaper rash?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, prolonged exposure of the buttocks to urine or being wrapped in wet diapers can cause the skin to be irritated by urine, resulting in small red bumps or rough skin on the buttocks, known as "diaper rash" or "red bottom." Prevention:
1. Pay close attention to the meticulous care of the baby. Change the diaper promptly upon discovering it is wet to maintain dryness in the area.
2. If redness appears, parents should take immediate action: clean the area first, then apply Xingpu Cream.
3. When washing the buttocks, use lukewarm water instead of soap to minimize local irritation.
4. If the baby cries excessively during lukewarm water washing, try letting the baby sit in a lukewarm water basin instead.
5. To prevent the diaper from soaking the bedding, place a small cotton pad or cloth pad under the diaper.
6. If possible, expose the baby's buttocks to the air for a period of time to help the rash heal. In hot summer or high-temperature conditions, the buttocks can be completely bare to keep the newborn's buttocks dry.
7. Avoid using talcum powder.
