What are the ways to deal with infant diarrhea?

Patient's question:

Don't want to eat, diarrhea, vomiting
Suspect ate something bad

Doctor's answer:

Analysis of the Condition:
The etiology of pediatric diarrhea is complex, and the pathogenesis varies.
(1) Infectious Diarrhea
Most pathogenic microorganisms enter the digestive tract through ingestion of contaminated water, food, or through contaminated hands. When the body's defense mechanisms weaken, a large number of microorganisms invade and produce toxins, leading to diarrhea. For example, after rotavirus invades the intestine, it damages the intestinal villus cells, reducing the small intestine's ability to absorb water and electrolytes, causing diarrhea. Simultaneously, insufficient secretion of disaccharidases leads to incomplete digestion of carbohydrates in the intestinal cavity, which are then decomposed by intestinal bacteria, increasing the osmotic pressure of intestinal fluid and further causing the loss of water and electrolytes, worsening diarrhea. Diarrhea caused by bacterial infections includes enterotoxic colitis and invasive colitis. However, pathogenic Escherichia coli does not produce enterotoxins or invasive forces, and its pathogenesis remains unclear.
(2) Non-Infectious Diarrhea
This is primarily caused by improper diet, mainly affecting artificially fed infants. When the quantity and quality of ingested food suddenly change beyond the digestive system's capacity, the food cannot be fully digested and absorbed, accumulating in the upper small intestine. This reduces local acidity, allows lower intestinal bacteria to migrate and proliferate, causing endogenous infection and digestive dysfunction. Increased intestinal peristalsis then leads to diarrhea and electrolyte imbalances.
Other Mechanisms: Conditions such as milk allergies, pancreatic dysfunction, and pancreatic fluid deficiency can also cause chronic diarrhea.
Guidance:
Pediatric Diarrhea Medication 1: Dinggui Erqi Patches, Function and Indication: Strengthening the spleen, warming the middle, dispelling cold, and stopping diarrhea. Suitable for auxiliary treatment of pediatric diarrhea and abdominal pain. Dosage and Administration: For external use. Apply one patch to the navel area. Replace the patch every 24 hours.
Pediatric Diarrhea Medication 2: Heshengyuan Children's Probiotic Powder, Function and Indication: Diseases, antibiotic-induced dysbiosis leading to decreased resistance in children and infants; intestinal microbiota imbalance causing poor nutrition digestion and absorption; diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, and constipation; improper diet; and (unsuitability to local environment). Dosage and Administration: Take once or twice daily, each time one packet. Dissolve the Heshengyuan Children's Probiotic Powder in an appropriate amount of lukewarm water or milk (below 37°C).
Pediatric Diarrhea Medication 3: Xia'er Gao Zhixie Granules, Function and Indication: Clearing heat, detoxifying, and draining dampness to stop diarrhea. Dosage and Administration: Dissolve in boiling water. For children under 5 years old, take 2.5 grams per dose; for children aged 5 and above, take 5 grams per dose. Take three times daily.
Pediatric Diarrhea Medication 4: Jian'er Zhixie Granules, Function and Indication: Strengthening the spleen and stopping diarrhea. Dosage and Administration: Dissolve in boiling water. For children under 1 year old, take 6 grams per dose; for children aged 1 to 5, take 6–12 grams per dose; for children aged 5 and above, take 12–18 grams per dose. Take three times daily.
The above medications primarily focus on protecting the pediatric intestinal mucosa. In extremely severe cases of diarrhea, antidiarrheal medications such as berberine and gentamicin syrup may be taken.
