Is kidney disease incurable?

Patient's question:

Recently, my husband's health has been much worse. He always feels extremely weak all over, and his hands have started to swell a bit. At first, we thought it was because he wasn't doing any exercise. But then his fatigue became more severe, so we had him checked, and the doctor said he has kidney disease. Now, my husband is taking medication to treat it.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that kidney disease is caused by external pathogenic factors invading the body, or excessive strain and exhaustion, leading to the depletion of vital essence over time. Many patients initially feel fatigue and heaviness in their legs. Upon waking up in the morning, they notice facial edema, as if they have "put on weight." When they go to the hospital for examination, they find protein or occult blood in their urine, confirming the diagnosis of this condition.
Recommendation: The conventional treatment for this disease often involves oral corticosteroids, tripterygium wilfordii (), cyclophosphamide, and other medications to control urinary protein and occult blood.
