Is a newborn jaundice check value of 7.0 normal?

Patient's question:

My mom hasn't been able to cook recently and often says she feels dizzy and has a headache. The key is, I don't really know what's going on, but she just seems a bit unwell. Could you please tell me if a newborn jaundice check value of 7.0 is normal?

Doctor's answer:

Hello; Neonatal jaundice is caused by the deposition of bilirubin in the skin surface. Additionally, due to factors or causes such as immature liver function in newborns, which limits bilirubin metabolism, neonates may exhibit jaundice for a period of time.
Advice:
Jaundice usually begins to appear two to three days after birth, peaks between four to six days, and gradually disappears after seven to ten days.
