Patient's question:
My child suddenly developed IgA nephropathy, with severe swelling all over the body and significant bloating. When pressed on the thighs, deep indentations and white marks appeared. The doctor said it was acute kidney disease. Family members recommended using traditional Chinese medicine and home remedies, but I was hesitant to use them indiscriminately, fearing they might worsen the condition.Doctor's answer:
Hello, patients with IGA nephropathy can receive intravenous pulse methylprednisolone therapy (0.5g/d) for three days, followed by prednisone at a dose of 0.6mg/(kg.d). The dose should be reduced by 5mg/d every two weeks until it reaches 10mg/d, and then maintained at this dose. MMF should be initiated at a dose of 0.5g, twice daily, and increased based on blood drug concentrations to 1.5–2.0g/d, administered continuously for 6 months. Afterward, it should be maintained at a daily dose of 0.75–1g. The total treatment duration is 2 years.
