Features: Those who can command others must possess qualities different from the ordinary. Leaders must "have courage and wisdom." Only those who are both morally upright and talented, as well as brave and wise, can lead the common people well. Of course, while being a leader, one must also be able to use people, win the love of subordinates, and establish a lofty belief.
In Chinese history, Zeng Guofan was an outstanding figure. He excelled in politics, military affairs, and scholarship, leaving behind many valuable ideological legacies for later generations. Similarly, Hu Linxi, one of the main commanders of the Xiang Army, had a historical influence almost as great as Zeng Guofan. In terms of commanding troops in battle and governing armies, some of Hu Linxi's views not only elaborated on and supplemented Zeng Guofan's thoughts but also surpassed and developed them in certain aspects. The two complemented each other's strengths and weaknesses, shining together as renowned officials who contributed to the revival of the Qing Dynasty. Even the great leader Mao Zedong once sighed, "Among modern figures, I am most impressed by Zeng Wenzheng. I also admire Hu Linxi's talent and even changed my name to 'Runzhi.'"
