The series is divided into five major formats and specifications: scrolls, square frames, fan-shaped paintings, circular frames, and albums. Each major format is further divided into three forms—flora and fauna, landscapes, and figures—resulting in a total of fifteen volumes. Each volume contains fifty self-drawn examples by the authors, guiding learners through aspects such as paper and brush preparation, composition arrangement, the painting process, seal appreciation, and works commentary. Additionally, it includes methods for folding paper, inscribing captions, using seals, common painting knowledge, and an anthology of poetry for painting, all to enhance practicality.
This series aims to provide learners with practical technical guidance and specific references, but true mastery requires readers to practice tirelessly. It is by no means meant to suggest that guidance equates to a universal key.
