Patient's question:
Now there is soreness on the outside of my thighs and knees, and the same is true for my hips. Can I still have children if I have ankylosis?Doctor's answer:
Ankylosing spondylitis, although strongly associated with HLA-B27 and influenced by intergenerational genetic factors that significantly interfere with the recurrence of ankylosing, does not necessarily affect the next generation if there are ankylosing patients among the direct relatives. Similarly, individuals positive for HLA-B27 do not necessarily experience a recurrence of ankylosing. Therefore, the condition itself does not interfere with the patient's ability to conceive. Ankylosing spondylitis primarily affects the patient's spinal joints, large limb joints, sacroiliac joints, and extra-articular organs (such as the eyes, lungs, kidneys, and heart), with minimal impact on reproductive organs and perinatal functions. Women who have not experienced pelvic or spinal fusion in the early stages of the disease can still give birth normally, carry early pregnancy to term, and experience labor. Wishing you the best in achieving early pregnancy and giving birth to a healthy baby.
