Is sunbathing helpful for babies with calcium deficiency?

Patient's question:

Recently, I checked and found that I'm a bit calcium deficient, so I was told to get some sun. Today, I took the baby out for a half-hour sun exposure, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, under the eaves of a classmate's house. At the time, the sun was a bit strong, and I held the baby with my back to the sunlight. The baby's eyes weren't facing the sun, but the scalp and back of the head were directly exposed to the sunlight. Additionally, the little feet were also left uncovered. After half an hour of sun exposure, I noticed that the baby's scalp, especially the soft spot (fontanelle), had turned red. Is this a problem?

Doctor's answer:

The baby is three months old. Recently, a thorough check revealed a slight calcium deficiency, so we were advised to get some sun exposure. Today, we took the baby out for half an hour under the eaves of a classmate's house, from 10:00 to 10:30. The sun was quite strong at the time. I held the baby with my back to the sunlight, so the baby's eyes were not facing the sun, but the scalp and back of the head were exposed to the sun's rays. Apart from the little feet, which were also left uncovered. After half an hour in the sun, I noticed that the baby's scalp, especially the area of the anterior fontanelle, was turning red. This seems to be a sunburn rash caused by the sun. I recommend avoiding exposure to such strong sunlight in the future.
