Through numerous examples, it summarizes or illustrates certain patterns. The aim is to help learners master basic translation theories and techniques, improve their translation skills and proficiency. The book is divided into twelve chapters. The first three chapters mainly introduce the basic theories and fundamental knowledge of translation. The theoretical explanations are clear and accessible, designed to elucidate fundamental principles and provide learners with a general understanding of the nature of translation, the process of translation, translation standards, and the conditions required for translation. Chapters 4 to 10 focus on common translation techniques. Unlike traditional translation technique books that emphasize ordinary translation methods such as lexical and syntactic approaches, this book explores translation techniques at the level of English rhetoric and idioms, discourse-level translation techniques, and literary style translation techniques on this basis. The introduction of techniques incorporates a large number of translation examples. Chapters 11, "Comparative Study of Multiple Translation Versions," and Chapter 12, "Appreciation of Excellent Translations and Analysis of Errors in Translations," aim to enhance learners' translation criticism and appreciation skills. Several chapters cover topics not typically found in general translation books. The appendix at the end of the book, "English-Chinese Comparative Table of Common Translation Terms," helps readers understand translation theory books written in English. It also provides convenience for English majors to write thesis papers on translation theory.
