Why is the baby crying inexplicably?

Patient's question:

A two-month-old baby is eating, drinking, and pooping normally, but they don't sleep. When they do sleep, they wake up after no more than ten minutes, crying loudly. They can only be calmed down by being held. This has been going on all afternoon. They are clearly tired, but as soon as they fall asleep, they wake up again. What could be the reason? Did they get scared? What should I do? Thank you.

Doctor's answer:

From your description, a two-month-old baby, under normal circumstances, sleeps after being full and would never constantly cry. I don't know if the mother's milk is sufficient. Please carefully check if the baby has a calcium deficiency. Consider whether it might be related to the baby feeling cold or lacking a sense of security. Give the baby more warm water to drink appropriately, and avoid overfeeding with milk for now. Try doing stomach and abdominal massage, and then hold the baby in your arms until they fall asleep before putting them down to see if that helps.
