Features: This book includes phonetic materials from 20 Chinese dialect points. These dialect points can basically represent the major dialects of Chinese. They are: Beijing, Jinan, Xi'an, Taiyuan, Wuhan, Chengdu, Hefei, Yangzhou (all Mandarin), Suzhou, Wenzhou (all Wu dialect), Changsha, Shuangfeng (all Xiang dialect), Nanchang (Gan dialect), Meixian (Hakka dialect), Guangzhou, Yangjiang (all Cantonese), Xiamen, Chaozhou, Fuzhou, Jian'ou (all Min dialect). The book includes 3,000 characters, arranged in the order of Mandarin phonetic sequence, with annotations of phonetic transcriptions and phonetic symbols written in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) for dialectal pronunciations.
