Carl Czerny (1791–1857), an outstanding Austrian pianist, educator, and composer, was born in Vienna. He began learning the piano from his father since childhood and later studied with Beethoven for three years. He devoted himself to researching the piano teaching methods of predecessors and became a renowned piano teacher by the age of 15. Overall, it starts easy and gradually increases in difficulty following a progressive method. For this reason, the first 40 pieces are written entirely in the treble clef, and the bass clef only appears starting from the 41st piece. Additionally, no accidentals are used in the key signatures before the 44th piece.
