Does closing the door too early affect brain development?

Patient's question:

The fontanelle is already closed, the head circumference has been 44.5 cm for ten months. The height is 75.5 cm, and the weight is 10 kg. At two months, the fontanelle was 1.51.5 cm, at three to four months it was 0.60.6 cm, and from five to nine months it was 0.50.5 cm. The child is in good spirits and appetite, with deep sleep of one to two hours in the middle of the day and 10 hours at night. The weight increases every month. My son takes calcium supplements and gets sunlight every day, and his hair is growing very well.
What kind of assistance is needed: I would like to ask several experts how early closure of the fontanelle can affect brain development.

Doctor's answer:

Head circumference generally follows the following pattern: At birth, it is 33-34 cm; in the first 3 months, it increases by 6 cm; at 1 year, it reaches 46 cm; at 2 years, it reaches 48 cm; from 2 to 15 years, it only increases by 6-7 cm; at 5 years, it is 50 cm; and at 15 years, it is 54-58 cm. The fontanelles close by the time the child is 10 months old, but the head circumference is normal, and there are no other special signs.
Head circumference measurement is most meaningful before the age of 2. If the head circumference is below normal, it may indicate microcephaly or underdeveloped brain. If the head circumference is above normal, it may suggest hydrocephalus or rickets.
Now, your child should be fine, and there is no need to be overly anxious. Wishing your baby healthy growth!
