Can a three-month-old baby eat mushy rice?

Patient's question:

Patient age: -1 Three and a half months old baby can eat rotten rice. Because I have tried several kinds of milk powder and none of them are suitable. Previous treatment history and effectiveness: None. What help do you want: Can the baby eat without drinking milk powder? Thank you.

Doctor's answer:

Infants should begin to be systematically introduced to mashed food as supplementary nutrition between 4-6 months of age. Currently, the baby is not suitable for supplementary feeding. Infants are very young, with delicate digestive organs, underdeveloped digestive glands, poor excretion function, and many digestive enzymes have not yet been formed. At this stage, they do not have the function to absorb supplementary food. If supplementary food is provided too early, it will increase the pressure on the infant's absorption function. The undigestible supplementary food will either remain in the stomach "boiling," causing abdominal pain, constipation, and loss of appetite, or it will enhance intestinal peristalsis, increasing the amount and frequency of bowel movements, ultimately leading to nausea and vomiting. Therefore, infants under four months of age should avoid being given supplementary food too early.
