Child goes to the hospital, medicine is taken, but still has a fever, what to do?

Patient's question:

Doctor, the child went to the hospital last night, took medicine at home, but has been having repeated fever from last night until now. Just now, the fever reached 39.5 degrees, and they took fever-reducing medicine, but it didn't work well. Should we take the child to the hospital for treatment now?

Doctor's answer:

From the baby's blood routine test, it may indicate a bacterial infection. The percentage of neutrophils and monocytes in white blood cells are both elevated. Currently, the baby has a persistent high fever, which may be related to it. When the body temperature is between 37.5-38.2 degrees, physical cooling methods can be used, such as bathing the neck, armpits, groin, popliteal fossa, etc., with warm water. If the body temperature is above 39.8 degrees, oral children's fever-reducing medicine or Lin oral liquid can be taken to reduce fever. It is best to use cephalosporin-class drugs for anti-inflammatory purposes, but it must not cause an allergy.
