Features: Organized by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) for college students has played a significant role in cultivating students' abilities to solve practical problems and their innovative awareness, as well as promoting teaching reform. This competition has now become one of the largest extracurricular science and technology activities for college students in China. Excellent contest problems and papers are key to better participating in mathematical modeling competitions. Based on years of experience as a coach and national/provincial reviewer, the author conducted in-depth research on past international and domestic contest problems and selected over ten problems with broad research potential and high creativity. These problems were discussed based on excellent papers, leading to nearly perfect solutions. The lecture notes have been tested in multiple institutions and have been well-received by graduate and undergraduate students, offering valuable inspiration for mathematical modeling coaches, especially in fostering creative thinking.
