How to deal with frequent vomiting in a female baby at one month old

Patient's question:

My little girl is exactly 100 days old. Usually, the child shows no abnormal symptoms, but occasionally she experiences dry heaves, vomiting quite a lot, similar to what adults do after drinking alcohol. However, since the previous episodes of vomiting occurred after riding in a car, I guessed it might be motion sickness or simply an adaptation issue. But today, around 11 a.m., after the baby finished nursing, she took a nap. I didn’t burp her, and she woke up at about 1:30 p.m. and played by herself. During this time, I changed her diaper and pants once, and also changed her diaper again. After playing for a while, she vomited again. I really can’t figure out why this happened. Please help me understand what’s going on. Thank you (see the image below for the baby’s small mattress after vomiting).

Doctor's answer:

According to your description, the child's condition may be closely related to their gastrointestinal motility function. The child's situation requires careful observation. If the child is alert, eating normally, sleeping deeply, and having normal bowel and bladder functions, it is advisable to wait and see for now. Remember to burp the child after each feeding. If accompanied by other discomforts or abnormal behavior, it is necessary to seek medical attention promptly.
