The commercial society has long been depicted by Marx as a complex and intricate machine, with law being the mechanism that maintains its operation. Law is not merely about the principles of morality and justice, nor is it solely the fair doctrines of moral teachings, but also a highly operable, detailed, and specific professional technology. This book introduces readers to the basic content of property law starting from the concept of property, covering exclusive and access rights to land, neighboring rights, joint ownership, leasing and transactions of real estate, public management of land use, individual property, and intellectual property rights. It includes important laws such as the Fair Housing Act, the Personal Property Law, and the Intellectual Property Law, explaining the various principles and policy foundations of U.S. property law. It emphasizes the differences in application rules of property law among states and explains the underlying conflicts of interest that give rise to these differences. The book is written in an accessible and engaging manner, using numerous beneficial examples to describe the complex and profound subject of property law vividly and in a contemporary context. It fills the gap in property law textbooks suitable for both teachers and students and is ideal for use alongside other reference materials.
