Criminal Law Difficult Case Analysis

Author: Chen Li, Editor-in-Chief

Features: The cases in this book are partly collected from The People's Court Daily, The Procuratorial Daily, and Reference for Criminal Trial, followed by in-depth research and analysis from the law faculty and researchers of our institution. Another part consists of cases I collected while serving as a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Xiamen Municipal Procuratorial Office. Most of these cases have been reviewed and analyzed by relevant prosecutors and published in Xiamen Procuratorial Review. The authors made only minor textual edits when including them, with little alteration to their original viewpoints. This is also an example of utilizing "local resources." These cases are highly practical. The authors' methods of analyzing issues are concise and straightforward, but their overly direct approach to the core issues leaves some necessary legal exploration, in my opinion, out of the analysis. Nevertheless, as authentic case reviews written by practitioners dealing with difficult cases, they provide law students with a vivid opportunity to understand and familiarize themselves with the types and handling of challenging criminal law cases, offering a valuable glimpse into the practice of criminal justice.
