Patient's question:
My baby is a premature child. I was very worried about the child's condition from the beginning. Recently, the child has appeared with a series of conditions, and I am also very worried, afraid that the child will become worse. When does the symptoms of neonatal pulmonary hyaline membrane disease appear?Doctor's answer:
Amniotic fluid foam test and gastric juice oscillation test were both negative; the ratio of sphingomyelin to lecithin (L/S) in amniotic fluid was <2:1; blood pH, PaO2, and HCO3- were decreased, while PCO2 and BE were elevated, indicating metabolic acidosis. Blood potassium levels were often elevated in the early stage and could be reduced after diuresis during the recovery period. Early chest X-ray showed fine granular shadows in both lungs, while the final X-ray showed both lungs becoming opaque and white, accompanied by a black "air bronchogram." Chest X-rays should be performed before positive pressure ventilation, as recently collapsed alveoli may re-expand and make the chest X-ray appear negative.
