Previous treatment and effectiveness: Taken to the hospital, received intravenous drips, four sets, one set for fever reduction, two sets for anti-inflammatory, one set for vitamin C,...

Doctor's answer:

Inflammation of the throat is often caused by viruses and secondarily by bacteria. It is most common in winter and spring. It frequently follows acute rhinitis, acute sinusitis, and acute tonsillitis, and is often a complication of infectious diseases such as measles, influenza, and scarlet fever. Exposure to cold, fatigue, prolonged exposure to chemical gases or dust, and excessive smoking can weaken the body's resistance, making it more susceptible to the condition. In adults, the symptoms primarily affect the throat. Initially, there may be dryness, itching, and a burning sensation in the throat, which gradually progresses to pain. Gently swallowing increases saliva production, and if the lateral pharyngeal cord is affected, there may be significant ear pain. In frail adults or children with pharyngitis, systemic symptoms are more pronounced, including high fever, chills, headaches, loss of appetite, and limb pain.
Recommendations:
(1) Maintain a balance between work and rest to avoid exposure to cold. During the acute phase, bed rest is recommended.
(2) Individuals frequently exposed to dust or chemical gases should wear protective measures such as masks and face shields.
(3) Drink lukewarm salt water regularly, consume easily digestible foods, and ensure bowel regularity.
(4) Avoid smoking, alcohol, spicy, excessively cold or hot, and fishy-smelling foods.
(5) Pay attention to oral hygiene and develop the habit of rinsing the mouth after meals to prevent bacterial growth.
(6) Foods such as winter melon, honey, tomatoes, star fruit, lemons, green fruits, kelp, radishes, sesame, pears, water chestnuts, white mulberry roots, and sugarcane have cooling and nourishing effects on the lungs and kidneys, and can be consumed in ample quantities.
(7) Ensure adequate ventilation in the room.
(8) Avoid speaking for long periods and especially avoid shouting loudly.
