Features: All the text here is what I have said in front of the microphone before, so when naming this collection, I thought of "In Front of the Microphone." What is recorded here are my works after becoming a program host at China Central Television (CCTV). In these works, there is a blend of my previous experiences and accumulations in front of the microphone, as well as my observations and reflections. From content to form, I have strived to create something new—they are the product of integrated production, editing, and broadcasting. At any time, I must say: thank you, "Economic Half Hour"! The year after joining CCTV, in late 1989, "Economic Half Hour" was launched. As one of the hosts, I walked the journey with "Economic Half Hour" for five years. During these five years, I grew from a beginner to a mature host, thanks to the integrated production, editing, and broadcasting work system here, as well as the relaxed creative environment. At first, when I started working on editing and production, I didn’t know where to begin. My team leader Ding Youyou taught me: "To do an economic program, you must first study economic issues." Facing the flickering lights and keys on the editing machine, I didn’t even dare to touch them. My mentor Zhang Jianmin told me what "output point" and "input point" meant. He said gently but firmly, "You can’t learn by just watching; you have to do it yourself." So, I started to learn by both thinking and doing, taking small steps as I entered the field. Fortunately, the Economic Department had few restrictions, encouraging everyone to work and create. Walking through the door of television, I tried various forms of television with a sense of novelty. Gradually, I developed a deep obsession with the interview scenes and the editing rooms.
