The main symptoms include coughing and sputum production.1. General treatment: Proper rest, increased fluid intake, and avoiding the inhalation of irritating gases.
2. Symptomatic treatment: For mild cough, oral promethazine (25mg, three times daily) or benproperine (20-40mg, three times daily) or dextromethorphan (15-30mg, three times daily) can be administered. For patients with sputum, ambroxol hydrochloride (30-60mg, three times daily) or compound licorice syrup (10ml, three times daily) can be given. Codeine and other strong antitussive drugs should not be used.
