Features: To help middle school students learn ancient Chinese poetry and prose well, we have selected and compiled this "Essential Readings in Ancient Chinese Poetry and Prose for Middle School Students" based on the recommended ancient Chinese poetry and prose recitation list from the "Teaching Syllabus for Chinese in Middle Schools" of 2000. It is published in two volumes: "Junior High School Volume" and "Senior High School Volume." During the compilation process, in addition to referring to our published series "Comprehensive Classification of Chinese Poetry Throughout Chinese History," we also consulted other relevant books and periodicals, and we sincerely express our gratitude here. These two books each select 20 classical Chinese prose pieces and 50 ancient Chinese poems. Each classical Chinese prose piece is accompanied by detailed annotations and a modern Chinese translation; each ancient Chinese poem is also annotated in detail, along with an appreciation essay. This allows readers to understand the content through annotations, while the translations and appreciations serve as references for study. The splendid culture of the five thousand-year-old Chinese nation has left us a valuable and immense literary heritage for the people of our country and even for all of humanity. Ancient Chinese poetry and prose are an important part of middle school Chinese classes, and learning them well is of great significance for inheriting our country's excellent literary heritage.
