How to treat bedwetting in children at night

Patient's question:

Before, I never thought I would wet the bed. At first, it happened maybe once or twice. Last year, when I was 10, I seemed to be getting fatter, but wetting the bed got worse. It seemed like I had to go to the bathroom twice every night, but I still wet the bed once in the morning. Lately, I've been taking...

Doctor's answer:

Is it because of bedwetting that he doesn't drink enough water? If so, supervise him to drink normally in the afternoon and use the toilet before taking a nap in the evening. During the night, parents should supervise him to use the toilet once before going to sleep. Over time, with a regular routine, it will improve. Don't put too much pressure on the child; it's usually not a problem. The more you make a big deal out of it, the more psychological pressure it creates, which is worse.
Medical Advice: Starting from the treatment, it is recommended that parents use an alarm clock to wake the child 30 minutes to 1 hour before the time he usually wets the bed at night. The child should then go back to bed and use the toilet. The alarm that wakes the child should coincide with the sensation of a full bladder. After a period of training, a conditioned reflex will be established, allowing the child to be woken by the sensation of a full bladder to voluntarily suppress urination. Additionally, encourage the child to go to the bathroom by himself, aiming to have the child urinate while relatively alert to empty the bladder completely.
Medication Treatment: Clomipramine is prescribed, with one dose taken 1 hour before bedtime. For those under 7 years old, the dose is 10 mg + 20 mg, taken once daily. After the medication takes effect, continue for 3 months, then gradually increase the dose. After reaching the same dose, take it once every 2 days before bedtime for one and a half months. Then, take it once every 3 days for another one and a half months, until the medication is stopped. The total treatment duration is 6 months.
