He served as a researcher at the Anhui Provincial Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. During clinical practice, he paid close attention to meticulously examining disease mechanisms, carefully analyzing pulse patterns, and prescribing medications with precision. In his later years, after his consultations, he personally selected over 100 medical cases and compiled them into Xu Shufu’s Medical Cases. This book was compiled by his grandson, Xu Jingshi (a distinguished TCM practitioner among the top 500 in China and Chief Physician at the Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine), based on his grandfather’s medical cases. Whether in terms of literary expression or in the application of syndrome differentiation and treatment, the book fully reflects the clinical characteristics and academic expertise of the late Xu.
