Patient's question:
Location: During a health check at the hospital, the doctor said that opening the thighs was a bit tight. Onset time: 2 months. Examination results: Ultrasound hip joint left α60β32 right α62β34. Previous treatment and effectiveness: The doctor has now prescribed a harness for correction, and will need to be checked again after 2 months. I would like to ask what are the normal hip joint angles, and can it still be corrected in 4 months?Doctor's answer:
Hello, for patients suspected of having congenital hip dysplasia, bilateral pelvic anteroposterior radiographs of the hip joints should be taken after birth at 3 months or older (as the acetabulum is mostly cartilage before this time). The growth and development status of the hip joint is commonly measured by the inclination of the acetabular angle. By connecting the centers of the bilateral acetabular cartilage (also known as the Y-shaped cartilage) and shortening the line, it is called the Y line. Then, draw a line from the Y line cartilage center point to the most prominent point on the lateral upper edge of the bony acetabular roof, which is called the C line. The angle between the C line and the Y line is the acetabular angle or called the acetabular index.
