"Work for Relief: A Nine-Year Review"

Author: Guo Peizhang
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2001-04-01
Features: This book mainly includes important directives from the Party Central Committee and the State Council leaders on work-for-relief over the past five years, as well as key speeches on poverty alleviation work, important documents related to work-for-relief, summaries of work-for-relief efforts at the national and provincial/municipal/county levels, and typical experiences. Due to space constraints, this book does not include typical experiences from all provinces, but we hope it can basically reflect some fundamental conditions and major achievements of China's work-for-relief during the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" period, providing a valuable reference for those engaged in this work or concerned about China's poverty alleviation efforts. Gaining support and assistance from the international community can help accelerate the resolution of food and livelihood issues for impoverished areas, and also allow us to learn from and draw on international experiences in organizing poverty alleviation projects. Local governments and relevant departments should continue to expand cooperation and exchanges with international organizations based on the lessons learned.
