Features: Following the requirement proposed by General Secretary Jiang Zemin to "build a team of environmental protection cadres with sound ideology, upright conduct, professional knowledge, and management skills," a large number of environmental workers demonstrated dedication to their jobs, courage in contribution, hard work, pragmatism, and pioneering spirit, making active contributions to China's environmental protection cause. Many outstanding groups and individuals emerged. At the National Environmental Protection System Advanced in 2000, 116 units and 38 individuals were honored by the Ministry of Personnel and the State Environmental Protection Administration as Advanced Units of the National Environmental Protection System and Advanced Workers of the National Environmental Protection System, respectively. Additionally, 67 units and 65 individuals were recognized by the National Environmental Protection System Spiritual Civilization Construction Guidance Committee as Advanced Collectives and Advanced Individuals in the National Environmental Protection System Spiritual Civilization Construction. These exemplary cases showcase the spirit of dedication, courage, and pioneering drive among environmental workers, making them role models for the entire environmental protection front. To better learn from these advanced deeds and promote the construction of "both civilization," the State Environmental Protection Administration selected some advanced cases of units and individuals to compile the book "Models of Learning and Examples of Practice," providing a learning resource for the national environmental protection system. This is a highly meaningful endeavor. It is believed that through the publication of this book, it will certainly play a positive role in advancing the "two civilization" construction across the entire environmental protection system.
