Publish Date: 2001-01-01
Features: This book is the result of extensive research over many years (supported by the Ford China Research and Development Fund for two research projects: "Strategies for Reducing Vehicle Emissions in Typical Cities (Beijing City)" and "Assessment and Control Strategies for Atmospheric Environmental Impact of Vehicle Emissions Sources in Typical Urban Areas"). It is a collaborative effort of numerous research institutions, supported by national and local governments, and a testament to the collective wisdom and hard work of many researchers (including undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students who have participated in related research) and administrative staff. Vehicle emissions cause multifaceted pollution, and this book addresses only a part of this complex system. The book is divided into eight chapters. Chapter 1 briefly introduces urban traffic trends and vehicle exhaust pollution; Chapter 2 analyzes the international history of controlling vehicle emission pollution; Chapter 3 discusses the status and distribution of urban vehicle pollution; Chapters 4 and 5 describe vehicle emission technologies and the inspection and maintenance (I/M) programs for in-use vehicles, respectively; Chapter 6 presents a comprehensive control plan for urban vehicle emission pollution; Chapter 7 introduces the tools for developing urban vehicle emission pollution control plans; and Chapter 8 provides examples of urban vehicle emission pollution control from different countries and regions.
