Features: The industry associations in our country have developed from the original planned economy system, amid the restructuring of the relationship between the state and society. The realization of their functions is closely linked to the positioning of this state-society relationship. This book combines the role positioning of industry associations in the social structure with functional analysis, thereby arguing that: industry associations, like enterprises, are essentially products of reducing transaction costs. The current industry associations in China, arising from different models of state-society relationships, manifest three forms: "top-down," "market-endogenous," and "intermediate model." Correspondingly, they reflect the function of reducing different aspects of transaction costs, thus forming distinct functional positioning for industry associations. The implementation of industry management models must be contextualized within the changing trends of the state-society relationship. Based on the innovative experiences of local industry association management systems and a judgment of the future trends of China's state-society relationship restructuring, this book proposes the development direction of industry associations and strategic choices for the transformation of their management systems. The seven cases in the second part of the book provide detailed firsthand materials, showcasing from different perspectives the role positioning, functional mechanisms, and model innovations in the management systems of industry associations.
