Features: The Collected Essays is a "book that speaks the truth," and Mr. Ba Jin has therefore been hailed as the "conscience of contemporary Chinese intellectuals." The book has been reprinted nine times to date, with cumulative sales exceeding 100,000 copies. Regarding the First National Book Award for Excellence in 1994, it has had a profound impact on both the intellectual and reading communities. On the occasion of Mr. Ba Jin's centennial, our store has re-edited and reprinted The Collected Essays of Ba Jin, included in the "Commemorative Anthology of Ba Jin's Centennial," as a tribute to him, and to honor his nearly eighty years of literary career and outstanding social contributions. It also serves to commemorate his connection with the China Association for Promoting Science and Technology Press. The Collected Essays of Ba Jin includes ninety-eight essays, organized into five sections based on content and themes: Section One focuses on criticism and reflection on the Cultural Revolution; Section Two on reflections on reality and society; Section Three on reminiscences of the past and tributes to friends and family; Section Four on literary self-reflections and thoughts on the literary world; and Section Five on international cultural exchanges. Additionally, nine appendices such as prefaces and postscripts are included to provide context for the author's writing at the time and his intentions. Following the principle of grouping similar and related topics, the aim is to achieve resonance and mutual understanding, making it easier for readers to compare and reflect.
