Features: The primary design of Mobile IP is that mobile nodes do not need to change their IP addresses when changing network access points, and can maintain connectivity during movement. Mobile IP technology allows users to freely access the Internet while roaming and receive personalized content services. The 3G standard IMT2000 has also explicitly stipulated that third-generation mobile communication systems must support Mobile IP packet services. This book comprehensively introduces Mobile IP and its related new developments. It provides detailed descriptions of two new versions of the Mobile IP protocol—Mobile IPv4 and Mobile IPv6 protocols—and discusses related technologies of Mobile IP, including handover technology, quality of service mechanisms, security mechanisms, and multicast technology, among others. It also introduces other technologies related to or similar to Mobile IP. Finally, it provides a detailed analysis of the implementation of Mobile IPv6 on the Linux system, MIPL. This book is based on research conducted under related National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and the National 863 High-Tech Development Program. The content is rich and covers a broad scope, presented in an accessible manner, making it a valuable reference for engineering professionals and students at universities and colleges who are interested in the first generation of the Internet, wireless communication, and especially the mobile Internet.
