At the very moment when the socialist economic system is being preliminarily established in China, the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, seizing the opportunity, clearly proposed to the Party and the people of the nation the task of improving the system of the socialist market economy, and formulated a series of policies and measures to achieve this task. Under this new situation, we have already achieved great accomplishments and accumulated new experiences under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping's theory, and many contents of the previously written Introduction to the Socialist Market Economy have become historical and can no longer fully meet the new requirements of improving the socialist market economy.
