Can bottled water be used to make formula?

Patient's question:

Place the bottled water in a constant temperature kettle to boil and deoxygenate. Can it be used to make baby formula, or for drinking tea? It is said that babies cannot drink pure water, is that true? Will it cause malnutrition if consumed?

Doctor's answer:

Drinking pure water for a long time is not good for babies. Because pure water undergoes multiple purification processes, bacteria and other contaminants in the water are removed, but it also removes essential minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, strontium, and zinc that the human body needs. When babies drink this water, they cannot obtain many of the essential minerals for the body as they would when drinking tap water. Drinking such water long-term is not beneficial for the health of the baby. It is not recommended to place bottled water in a constant-temperature kettle for boiling. If it needs to be consumed, it can be heated sufficiently.
