Why does the child's heel pain last for a long time?

Patient's question:

Pain in the female heel has been present for about a year. There is no redness or swelling on the surface, and there is no significant mobility issue. She occasionally mentioned foot pain after walking about 5 miles two years ago, but now she frequently complains of foot pain.
Past treatment history and effectiveness: No treatment has been administered. Plans to get an X-ray in the afternoon to determine the cause...

Doctor's answer:

It is a common disease. It is characterized by heel swelling, numbness, pain, local tenderness, and difficulty walking. Heel pain is also known as heel spur or bone spurs of the calcaneus. In traditional Chinese medicine, it falls under the category of "bone bi," and the causes are often related to kidney deficiency, overexertion, trauma, and exposure to cold and dampness. To treat chronic or initial heel pain, various Chinese herbal medicines are used to soak the feet, which do not damage the skin and have no toxic side effects.
1. Medicinal herbs include:
- Tungus grass (Tianducao): 30g
- Danggui (Weilingxian): 30g
- Xunbone wind (Xunbonefeng): 30g
- Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen): 30g
- Poria (Fuling): 30g
- Ligusticum chuanxiong (Chuanshu): 30g
- Achyranthes bidentata (Niuxi): 30g
- Spinosad (Zaojiaocie): 20g
- Myrrh (Moyao): 20g
- Croton (Xuanhu): 20g
- Chinese rhinoceros beetle (Tudiexiong): 20g
- Red flower (Honghua): 20g
Add 2000 ml of vinegar to soak the herbs, then simmer into a concentrated decoction. Filter the liquid and soak the heels for 30 minutes while vigorously massaging the affected area. Do this 3 times a day (morning, noon, and evening). Each dose can be reused after reheating for 2 days. A 30-day period constitutes one course of treatment. Mild cases may see swelling and pain subside within one course, while severe cases may require 2–3 courses for pain to gradually alleviate and disappear, allowing for normal walking.
2. Soaking method:
Use 1000 ml of aged vinegar, heated to a temperature that can penetrate the feet, and soak the affected foot for 20–30 minutes each time. Do this 1–2 times a day. Generally, alternating use for half a month will gradually reduce heel pain. Continuing for 1–2 months will lead to full recovery.
