Patient's question:
Children were carefully examined in the pediatric clinic and found to have high muscle tone. I am not at ease. I saw a professor, and the result was that the professor said your child has central nervous system developmental disorder. He prescribed hyperbaric oxygen, cerebral circulation alternation, meridian frequency guidance, and activity therapy. Additionally, he recommended brain-protecting acupuncture, which is called ganglioside. I would like to know what this condition indicates. I originally wanted to consult by phone but don't know how it works. If there is a doctor who understands this, please call me. I am very anxious.Doctor's answer:
Neural tube defects, which are caused by neural tube closure and incomplete development, primarily manifest as abnormalities in the brain and spinal cord. The severity of spina bifida varies; mild cases may only have a few areas without scarring, leaving a small gap known as (hidden spina bifida). One relatively common condition is hydrocephalus, generally resulting from abnormal development of the ventricular system and an imbalance in the production and loss of cerebrospinal fluid. Due to the inability of cerebrospinal fluid to circulate normally, the ventricles may become filled with fluid, or there may be excessive fluid in the subarachnoid space. The former is termed intracranial hydrocephalus, while the latter is called extracranial hydrocephalus. The clinical manifestations of this condition include reduced cranial size, thinning of the skull bones, and sometimes visible gaps.
