Features: Pulmonary embolism is a general term for a group of diseases. In addition to pulmonary thromboembolism, it also includes other types caused by non-thrombotic emboli, such as fat embolism syndrome, amniotic fluid embolism, air embolism, and foreign body embolism. Each type has its unique clinical pathogenesis and diagnostic and treatment methods, which are elaborated in dedicated chapters of this book. Pulmonary embolism is an important field in medicine and a common issue encountered in clinical practice. However, it seems that it is far from being fully recognized among doctors. It can be said that pulmonary embolism, as a disease gradually being recognized and relatively prevalent, currently diagnosed cases are merely the tip of the iceberg. The lack of understanding and standardized diagnosis and treatment for pulmonary embolism are still widespread. Therefore, our mission is arduous. Pulmonary embolism is a growing hotspot in academia and a valuable platform for the development of discipline construction in various medical institutions. Rapidly securing this position is extremely important for the career advancement of doctors, departments, and hospitals, as well as for better safeguarding the life and health of the public. We hope to have a sufficient awareness of this and translate it into swift action. This book is written by doctors and researchers in China with rich practical experience and in-depth research in the field of pulmonary embolism, especially pulmonary thromboembolism. To fully reflect the academic styles of the authors, we have not insisted on uniform writing formats for each chapter and have strived to maintain the relative completeness of the content.
